The house was still. Everyone was sleeping quietly. Suddenly, there was a loud cry, “Wake up, everybody!” It was Gary. He was so excited. He had jumped out of bed and gone around to wake his family up. Dad, mum and sis looked at him grumpily. They wished Gary would just go back to bed. “What’s the matter, Gary?” asked dad. “Don’t disturb our sleep.” grumbled sis. “Why are you up so early?” mumbled mum sleepily. “It’s my birthday!” shouted Gary gleefully.
