“Grandpa, let’s have a game of chess, I will definitely beat you this time,” I said excitedly.

I love playing chess with Grandpa. He plays decisively and has a lot of tactics and always makes intelligent moves. He says playing chess will keep him away from Alzheimer’s disease.

“Alright, young man. Let’s see if you can beat the king of chess this time,” he said cheerfully.

Grandpa has won many chess competitions and he is known as the king of chess. “Grandpa,” I asked, “how have games changed from the time when you were a child?”

“We used to make our own boards and play board games but now, many people play computer games. Board games are obsolete,” he said sadly.

“But, I still love board games where I can interact with people face to face and I don’t miss out on being with the family,” I said.

“Grandpa, we should get Ryan to play board games. He is so active and he can’t keep still for a moment. Playing games will occupy him in a very effective way and he will not create mischief at home.

“You are right Randy. Let’s teach him to play chess,” grandpa said matter-of-factly.

Check - mate!” I shouted. “This time I got you Grandpa!” I was glad that I had beaten Grandpa this time.
