The aroma of food wafted across the café to the library. Janice wriggled in her seat uncomfortably. She turned a page and tried to concentrate on her reading. However, she found that she could not. Her stomach was rumbling.

“I have to persevere! I need to lose some weight,” she reminded herself over and over.

Such thoughts had become almost like a chant to Janice. However, her stomach refused to concede. Images of rich, creamy cakes and steaming hot mocha appeared in her mind. It did not help at all to have the library so close to the café! To think that she had ‘escaped’ to the library in order to forget about food!

“Maybe I’ll just have a tiny bite!” Janice thought hungrily. She decided to make her way to the café. Janice could do so with her eyes closed; the delectable aroma from the café guided her like a seeing-eye-dog leading the blind.

Soon, Janice was tucking into a generous slice of cheesecake. She held a big cup of hot mocha with one hand as she ate with the other.

“Oh well, I can always exercise afterwards,” said Janice.
