Dickson was walking to the train station one morning when he saw an envelope on the road. Upon opening it, he found a stack of dollar bills.
Dickson knew the owner must be distressed by the loss. Even though he was worried about being late for work, he knew that he needed to take the money to the police immediately.
At the police station, Dickson handed over the envelope of cash. The policeman told Dickson that a man called Simon Tan had come to the station earlier on to lodge a report. He had dropped an envelope containing ten thousand dollars near a train station. The envelope must have fallen out of his pocket when he tripped on the road. The policeman then called Simon to break the good news.
Simon was ecstatic when he arrived at the police station. He offered Dickson a small token of appreciation, but Dickson declined. “I don’t need a reward. I’ m just doing my part as a responsible citizen,” he said humbly.
